While I often complain about the poor behavior of the customers we get in the store, don’t believe they’re all bad. Most of them are fairly mild-mannered, if a bit aloof in that “I’m from Bethesda” kind of way.

But sometimes, we get really nice people! Like Ginger, the beagle puppy dog who was so very very happy, excitable, curious, and adorable.

I think the all-time favorite was an older Saudi woman who came in. We ended up spending several minutes chatting about how wonderful it is to have a dog. Her son has this many dogs at this house and that many dogs at that house, and it’s wonderful. When she stays at his house the dog would come into her room and out to the balcony to say goodbye to the kids on their way to school.

The best story? Her daughter-in-law had a baby. She puts the little girl in the middle of the carpet while she putters around cleaning. Then all 4 or 5 dogs come lie down around the baby in a circle, guarding her.

I wish people like her would come in more often. She had us all smiling for the rest of the day.
