Economic woes

Published by mwebb85 under jobs Edit This

So I hear the job market sucks lately and everyone is losing their jobs. It really hit me last week when I went home for Christmas. Due to the economy, the boys’ detention center where my mom works as a nurse could be downsized or closed. My dad is a salesman and might not have a job after the first of the year. My 91-year-old grandfather lost more money in the stock market than I’ve made in my entire life (and considering he’s probably going to live to 100, that’s not good).

As a result, I’m hit with uncertainty on two fronts. While I no longer depend on my parents for money, it’s still nice to know that they’d be able to step in and help me out should my life explode. The thought that I might lose that means of support is frightening. And, of course, I’m really not fond of the idea that, should I lose my job for any reason, it’s going to be more difficult now to find another job.

Sigh.
