Warm And Fuzzy Feelings

Published by mwebb85 at 11:57 pm under jobs Edit This

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: good jobs are almost entirely about the people. When I worked for aka Meryl Streep, the work was actually pretty okay. I was good as sales. But Meryl drove me absolutely batty (and eventually, probably to alcoholism), and that I just couldn’t tolerate. While working for Grassroots, one of my coworkers became a good friend, but the hundreds of mean nasty people I had to deal with day in and day out offset the balance in his disfavor.

And now, working at the art store, for the second time I have stopped in on my day off to say hello. Last time it was to bring (delicious, amazing, Belgian chocolate!) brownies to my poor harassed coworkers. Yesterday I had to go in to the doctor’s office for a scary icky procedure. The day before, all the girls at work hugged me and told me I’d be fine and worried about me. When I stopped in after I got back to Bethesda, I was again hugged and coddled and told I would be fine.

I’m a girl. I’m a touchy-feely, emotional, highly invested in relationships type of girl. So the fact that I’m finally getting exactly what I need - a good environment, a fun atmosphere, and a burgeoning group of girlfriends - just completely boggles my mind. I love it. It’s awesome. Hurray!
